Nanuet Fire Department Line Officers
The day to day operations of the Nanuet Fire Department are led by:
Chief Joseph Pacella (8-1) is a second generation firefighter & Chief, with his father also serving as Chief (96-97 & 05-06). Joe has over 15 years of service to the Nanuet Fire Department, and has served as a line officer since 2013. As Chief, he is entrusted with the responsibility of overseeing all operational aspects of the Department. In addition to responding to fire and rescue emergencies, the Chief attends many meetings and training seminars as well as working hand in hand with local government officials to ensure maximum safety and protection of our community.
1st Assistant Chief William Schoenleber (8-2) and 2nd Assistant Chief Mark Perlowitz (8-3) work together with the Chief in order to ensure smooth operations at all times. They also share many of the same duties as the Chief in addition to responding to fire and rescue emergencies. As incident commanders, the Chiefs communicate with Fire Control and incoming units, providing the scene size-up and critical decision making that are imperative to firefighting operations.
Captain Luke Hansen (8-4) is responsible for all of the members of the Nanuet Fire Department. It is his responsibility to make sure all members are fully equipped and trained properly. The Captain, with the help of his Lieutenants, plans, coordinates and executes training drills and seminars as well as working hands-on with the members at fire and rescue scenes. In the absence of a Chief, the Captain will take on the responsibilities of incident commander.
Lieutenants Brian Ready (8-5) Thomas Cassidy (8-6) and Randy Martinez (8-7) work in conjunction with the Captain and Chiefs to ensure all firefighting equipment and protective gear is in proper working order. The Lieutenants will also often serve as leading officers of small groups (crews) of firefighters at an emergency scene. En route to an emergency, the lieutenants will frequently communicate with the incident commanders as to what resources and equipment will be deployed upon its arrival.
Chief Chauffeur (8-8) Everette Bierker is responsible for the Nanuet Fire District's fleet of emergency apparatus. The Chief Chauffeur and his assistants thoroughly check and test the apparatus and its critical equipment on a weekly basis. The Chief Chauffeur ensures that all maintenance, both in-house and out, is performed on a timely schedule. He is also responsible for overseeing the driver training program each year. At an emergency scene, the Chief Chauffeur will ensure that all fire apparatus are operating efficiently.
Assistant Chauffeur Officers Segundo Guallpa (8-9) Colin Hudak (8-10) and Jake Himes (8-11) work in conjunction with the Chief Chauffeur to keep our fleet of fire apparatus running smoothly. The Assistant Chauffeurs will aid the Chief Chauffeur in completing the rigorous maintenance schedule as well as the new driver training program. At an emergency scene, the Assistant Chauffeurs will also ensure that all fire apparatus are operating efficiently.
