This past Monday night, just after 10pm, Nanuet FD Chief Bill Schoenleber announced over the fire radio that 8-75 was now in service.

The new 8-75 is a 2017 E-One ladder truck, which was delivered to the Nanuet Fire Department in mid-January. It represents the culmination of a dedicated group of officers' and members' hard work over the last few years; designing and configuring the apparatus to be custom tailored to Nanuet's evolving needs.

"The truck is designed to be versatile." said Chief Schoenleber. "It can perform the duties of several of our pre-existing apparatus."

Nanuet FD members spent most of the early months of 2018 training and becoming familiar with the capabilities and functions of the truck.

"Training is key when the truck first arrives" said Captain David Jacobson, responsible for overseeing all training in the Department. "Our goal is to have as many firefighters fully familiar with every nut and bolt on the truck before it goes in service."

This is the second truck in Nanuet FD's history to carry the "8-75" moniker. The original 8-75 was a 1969 Young-Pitman articulating platform, and was Nanuet's first ladder truck. You can learn more about it from the link below.

Now that the truck has been placed in full service, it will respond as the second apparatus from Nanuet FD's main firehouse on Old Middletown Rd.
